Short Historical Information

Trevi, like many other Umbrian towns, because of its strategic position, had to undergo across the centuries many invasions, rapes, civil wars, destructions and reconstructions. To the Umbrian people the Romans succeeded, and Trevi became an important centre of the Flaminia way. With the end of the Roman Empire, Trevi, which had already become Christian thanks to Bishop Emiliano, was occupied by the Longobards and entered the Ducato of Spoleto (VIII sec.) During the Middle Ages Trevi was conquered by Foligno and Spoleto alternatively. It was politically and military instable until the XVI century when, after various dominations (Trinci, Michelotti, Sforza) Trevi entered in the and belonged to it until 1860.
